#441, "Lake Perris Report"

My buddy Cameron Smith and I braved the Ortega Mountains, to get to Lake Perris early Sunday morning. We fished the roadway (across the lake from the marina!) to start with. We were getting burned, guys hooked up all over the place and we couldn't get touched. Float tubers, bass boats, guys on shore all getting fish. Finally Cameron got one on a crank bait, and then another one on a worm. I wasn't having any takers on my TD Minnow or my splash-it.

We zoomed over to the east end, and found a ton a bait and fish breaking. I caught my first fish on my first cast in the area on a SplashIt. We fished around more, caught some worm fish. Threw blades and jigs in the sticks, but nothing going.

We fished on the dam, and on the rockpiles near the buoy line. We picked up a few worm fish. I drop shotted some 4" stuff and Cameron threw an 8" t-rig.

Late in the day we went back into the east end. Caught a few SplashIt fish, and I was throwing Super Spook. Had two blow ups and no hookups. So Cameron, decides to tie one on and preceeds to nail a 4lber. He loves doing that! Fun day at Perris all around.

Rob, yes I threw my AC Minnow. I think it was way too bright, sunny, and calm for that stuff.

So back to work. One more week until the Columbia River. Breaks my heart...
