#5652, "Clear Lake 9/5-9/8"

Went to Clear Lake to fish the rally. Started at one on thursday. Got a 4.5 on a frog right away. Chris and I both missed fish later on frogs and landed fish to 3 lbs all after noon on jigs. Friday, probably the best day up there. Fish on jigs all day again including a 6 lber. About 11 a.m got a 7 lber on a castaic trout. Saturday is a day Ill remember for a LONG time. I lost possibly the biggest fish Ive ever hooked. About 7 am get a toilet bowl flush on a buzzbait and set the hook and this fish immediately starts running for deeper water. I cant even turn this fish with 17 lb test. Had my drag cranked all the way down and all of a sudden CRACK!!! I had to look at my rod to make sure the rod didnt break. That was the loudest line snap Ive ever heard. Look over and the line is still on top of the water and we troll after it. As we get closer to it, it slowly goes down into the water :(. I had nightmares that night later. Anyway, I get a 4.2 and a 3 later on jigs. Sunday-buzzbait and jig fish. Biggest fish was 2.8 lbs. Went back to where I lost my fish the day before and Im throwing the 12" slammer and FLUSH. Fish absolutely demolished my slammer. Fish on and it looks in the 8-10 lb range but not close to the buzz fish I lost. Anyway, the fish gets off about 10 seconds into the fight, but Im used to using these big fish by now. Im ok with losing the slammer fish, but I will not forget that buzz fish for a long time. Ill be back there for another 4 days in 2 weeks and Im on a mission to catch a big fish with a chartruse double buzzer in her lip. I know where the hawgs are. The 2 big fish I lost, the 7 and the 6 all came from a 100 yard long shore.
