kranders,
I would really recommend Santa Mararita for starting out fishin locally. Right now the weeds have mostly died off so shore fishing is a viable option. Try by the marina ramp for trout or in the swimming pool cove. Dean at Angler's Outpost Marina can usaully point you in the right direction, just drop by and say hi.
If you're just getting in to bass fishing, I'd recommend trying 7" power worms and maybe some spinnerbaits in the afternoon. There's lots of shore access if you drive up the lake, just pick a point and go for it.
I'll be up there Saturday so check the page that night for an updated report
