Fished Gull, Silver, Grant and Palmer Lakes, along with Rush andPalmer Creeks 6/17 to 6/19. Hot lure was the tiny Kastmaster (chrome). It caught cut-throat, rainbows and browns - none larger than 14 inches. I was stubborn and fished the pin's minnow, but when George Carnes from Poway had scored multi fish (mostly browns) for two days running and I had only farmed a few and C&R'd a small rainbow, I got on the wagon. Green label salmon eggs were productive in streams and lakes. Paul Guenther from Rancho Bernardo, got the big fish in our group, a rainbow of about four pounds, on a salmon egg/marshmallow combo, in about forty feet depth, at Silver Lake. Wham Fisheeze (2 inch, smoke/silver flake) on a 1/32 oz. glitter head jig also produced rainbows. Caught what appeared to be a smallmouth in Gull Lake. Hit the fisheeze near weeds. Sort of reddish-brown with hints of vertical bars on the sides, sort of perch-shaped, small mouth. I got my first brown and cut-throat ever slow-trolling off my kayak in Silver Lake. Suggest shore fishing Silver Lake where the creek runs into the lake or trolling the highway side (where I was told the creek bed runs). Also recommend the lower Palmer Creek, the stretch where it runs to Mono Lake; produced browns. Weather was great - 80s in day and low 40s at night. Mosquitos not too bad, yet. Others not in my group, took limits trolling flies behind flashers. I was surprised at the numbers of fisherfolk working the streams - very heavy pressure. First and last two hours of the day were best.
