I am considering getting a Shimano Conquest to replace my old Curado 200. http://www.japantackle.com/Conquest.htm http://www.japantackle.com/juns_recommendation.htm
I use the Curado with 12lb test casting mostly larger plastics. Would this be a decent swap?
What, in particular, distinguishes the usages of "low" as compared to "round" profile baitcasters besides weight and the way they feel?
I sure like the drag control of my Calcutta 250 as compared to my low profile reels (Scorpion 1000's and the Curado 200) which feel sticky by comparison. The Calcutta seems to cast light spinnerbaits very well with 15lb test on a 6'5" MH rod.
The casting ability of my Calcutta 250 coupled with it's great drag has me leaning towards the Conquest 200 and round reels. http://www.japantackle.com/images/Conq.JPG
