Last weekend I expected the SD bay sandbass bite to be good. It was a fiasco. I’m blaming that wishy washy storm cell that rolled around. On Monday I started planning for Wednesday. I knew the tide was gonna be ripping, I knew I could play CC rider(slang for taking a day off cause work is slow), I kew the storm affects would be 3 days history, and I knew it was my kids 12th birthday. So with all systems intact we launched at 9am. The plan was introduce my kids to the sandbass shuffle and hopefully have them catch fish on “Dad’s lures” for the first time. Twas good!

Here’s some pics from this morning(in order)

First long line of the day. Birthday girl blast a nice sandy.

We took turns with 2 long lined Trix Spinbombs and also wiggling a drop-shotted Bass Assassin. Friends don’t let friends drop shot Gulp. Here’s a DS fish.

Followed by a shuffle rod fish.

If you think catching a fish on a homemade lure is fun, wait till you get to watch your family catching fish on your handywork. Pretty damn cool. I am a lucky SOB. My family is finally to the point were they can catch saltwater bass unaided. As this photo displays…

Made a move up across the street from the bait barges. My wife lit up this chunky spotty on the DS rod. She be knowin’, and dropping some skills.

I light my torch and wave it for the new moon on Wednesday.

Motored back down to the Municipal pier and mad a couple more short drifts and I tagged the last fish of the day.

Details- We fished for 3 hours. We caught 12 fish, 4 on drop shotted Bass Assassins with 10lb test, and 9 on TSBs long lined with 12lb test. We only fished the area in front of the SI pier and the area across from the submarines. The upper spot metered more fish, but the pier area yielded more fish. Most fish were in the 15”-18” range. OI!
