From 6:00am till 8:00am I fished out on the Capitola Pier this morning. Lots of bait is surfacing and the birds were working. A few guys were catching mackerel and kingfish down at the end of the pier using fly jigs baited with anchovies. I only got one good hit tossing a green and black 5” swim bait. Kind of cool, What ever it was it had teeth. It left a couple of nasty holes in my swim bait. I think tomorrow I’ll be packing it up and going home to Stockton till the weekend than back here again to Capitola to finish this house. When I come back from Stockton I’ll have my kick boat with. The kelp beds along Pleasure Point, down past Capitola, look like they need to be flipped with a variety of salty baits.
If work permits I should be able to sneak away for a couple of hours some time over the weekend.
If anybody interested in joining me please inquire. Better safe in numbers than alone.
