#5289, "Be gone.... skunk!"

Well, I finally chased away the skunk!

After a few weeks of waiting, my Loomis package arrived, and produced a beautiful 9'6" 8 weight, graphite flyrod, free of charge!

Thank you Loomis for the superb customer service. The rod would have been there sooner, but was back-ordered.

Tuesday evening, 5 o'clock, no swell and pretty dirty water, so no diving. I grab a few flies from Mr. Shin, and off to Campus Point I go.

Long story short, I hooked and landed a 16 inch halibut, hooked and lost 3 other mystery fish, and snagged a 4 foot shovelnose shark in the back.

I had a almost legal halibut jump out of the water not 5 feet from me right as a friend who was skeptical about fish being that tight in arrived at the beach. Scared the s#$t out of me! I also spooked another legal fish when I was walking back to the beach in 2 feet of water.

The sun set, the moon rose. It was a picture perfect Santa Barbara evening. So calm, no wind, no waves, warm breeze. Life, at least for the two hours I was there, slowed down to a perfect crawl.
