#6113, "NB surf perch Rpt. 5/19/02"

Fished the incoming high for an hour from 4:30pm to 5:30pm from the 52nd St. jetty.

Bought a dozen blood worms from Grant Boys and it was wide open from the first cast on mini barred surfperch. Caught and released 9 fish in the 4" size catagory and had a lot more that I missed on the swing and a miss! Lots of nibbling going on with no hook set after the swing on'em. If I didn't know any better I'd say it was the same fish over and over. Cute little guys and they were aggresive biters.

The bite basically shut off like a switch right at high slack. I don't know why the fish were all so tiny but it was still fun having good action from the surf no matter what the size. I usually get at least one nice fish whether it be a corbina or leopord shark but today the prize fish was an enormous 7" barred surf perch "slab". LOL.

Will be at it again next Sunday and with a little luck will catch the right kind or at least a little larger ones!! :D
