Well... the red crabs are gone. Did'nt see a single crab all weekend. Yesterday I caught 4 Flatties (1 legal) 1 WSB 20", and 4 bass 2 sand and 2 spotties all in the 14 to 16" range.

I had a little problem though. I have been going with 6lb Maxima and to be honest, its not getting the job done. I've been getting busted off something fierce lately. I don't know if its Bat Rays or Smoothhounds ...maybe neither but now that the water has warmed there is something out there that has been taking for a royal ride big time.

My Shimano Sahara 4000 FA came with 2 aluminum spools so after catching 7 small Bass this morning on swimbaits,(by the way thats all I fish with these days) and having been busted off about 4 times I promptly went down to Boss Bait and Tackle and had Brandon the Asst. Manager load 180 yards of 10 lb test on the one spool.

I can't believe how strong and tough this line is but my only concern is will I get bit as often as I did with the lighter line. I will keep the other spool in my tackle box. This swimbait fishing is addicting. I haven't casted baits in the surf in a long time. Oh well...its a long summer.
