If you are looking for a typical all purpose sandbass to yellowtail to yellowfin tuna rod; I would recommend a 7 foot 270 or 870. The 270 are perfect for 15lb and 20ln line, while the 870 is more designed for 20lb and 30lb line. Alot has to do with your budget also. One of the best value on the market is Seeker American Series II fiberglass rod. You can throw lures with the 7 footer, but if this is spacifically an Jig stick; I would opt for the 8 and 9 foot. The Daiwa X40HV has an awesome free spool, so chucking light bait such as anchovies, is alot easier than a Penn 500L. Sure there are Grafiters, Black Steel, etc... and these are great rods, but cost twice as much; it all depends on your budget..Keep in mind, people have been catching fish with fiberglass for decades. Oh, almost forgot, stay away from Master,Roddy, and especially Penn rods, these tend to break, and we don't want that to happen in the heat of a fight. Fenwick are good if you can find American made or Taiwan made ones...The current ones are made in China and also tend to break. Well Good luck and see ya on the water!
