decided to squeeze in an hour or two of bay fishing after work before taking on the honey do list. arrived at about 5:45 to find an incoming tide with a hell of a lot of current. began casting a keylime swimbait for nothing, then switched to a smelt pattern with orange belly to for a solid hit on the second cast, dropped, kept cranking and the fish picked it up again and dropped it for the second time. an hour went by for zero fish, it got dark and called it quits, on the way back i casted out a haloween swimtail a few times for one shortie spottie, and on what i told myself was going to be my last cast, BAM! i got ripped, one looooong run, small pause and an even longer run, took me down to one third of my spool till it stopped, began cranking on it to gain a few inches at the most each pump, ten mins went by and i began to see splashes on the surface, a few more short runs and a lot of finesse and i see my catch on the beach, barracuda i thought, long and silver, as i got closer to pick it up CORVINA! and a bigun at that, looong and slender it looked like a legal cuda, damn thing like an inch shy of the lenght of my arm. fully extended, marked the lenght on my rod and checked it home, my baby was 27"
