#11033, "West Goleta Beach/Campus Point - Oct. 25, 2003"
Tubed this morning with a few friends from 7:00 am until around 11:00. The swell was up a bit and there was a very high tide around 10:00. I figured I'd start with the inshore halibut and if that didn't pay off kick out to Campus Point and try for some bass. Started off with the 3 inch Big Hammer in the Sea Wolf color and soon connected with a just barely legal halibut. It was one of the hardest fighting 22 inchers I've ever caught - very fun. I thought the day was off to a good start. The rest of the guys had calico fever and kicked out to Campus Point right away. I stayed shallow for another hour or so but didn't find anymore halibut. Kicked out to Campus Point to find a very slow bite. There were a few small bass and rockfish caught and one 3.5 pounder caught by Mike on a 5 inch Silver Sardine colored Hammer. Tried for halibut again for a few minutes on the way back in for nothing.
