John Strenk joined me on my boat, Bassomatic, Saturday evening to fish Chris Hurley's Annual Wallbanger Tourney at the Federal Breakwall. Many of us were concerned about forecasted rain, fog and wind but none it showed up. It was a gorgeous night out there. We fished the outside, west end of the middle wall down to almost the V. It was really slow for us at first, just lots of sculpin. We started to pick a bass here and there on Assalt Skirted-Ringer Paddletails and some creature baits John welded together. I dabbed on some Pro-Cure for the tough bite. That seemed to help as I was able to put two better grade calicos in the tank. We ended up with enough weight for 7th place out of 35 teams. Many folks had a tough night, either scoring few bites or many cookie-cutter smaller fish. On the way in, we saw many kelps and small logs in the harbor. Overall, it was a great evening to be fishing.
