#11746, "Went to Venice Pier to test the waters ..."

It was hoe-hum because we kept no fish. We caught plenty of small fries. Mackeral, croaker, perch, smelt, & queenfish. I was trying for a halibut using a small live smelt. I tail-hooked it. I had a strong strike that ripped it off. :-( Probably a hali?

What we saw today was: 1 thresher shark that could not make it aboard the pier. It was nice. We all saw it as they were trying to land it. 1 legal halibut (barely legal) caught on a Mojo split-tail (all white) with a 3/4 oz. lead-head.

Total fish count for 2 of us: 18 fish
Fished from 12pm - 7pm (a long day). Still fun, I guess?
