Went out looking for corbina the other day with my buddy Dan about 2:30 to fish the low tide but could not find any bait after about 1/2 hr found some sand crab and gave them to Dan, he tried the bay I found a bait and cast it across the ripples of the out going flow and kept on looking for bait. Felt a heavy pull taught it was the out flow with the sinker down in the sand kept a steady pressure to get it out of the sand but then I felt that jerk on the line and a heavy load like a corbina or a skate after a few minutes I was almost sure it was a corbina but I could not get it comming my way maybe a brown smooth hound shark hoping it was a corbina I kept the presure on but with the out flow I was getting no where so I moved down the beach to get out of the out flow after about 10 min. I got to see my first corbina for the year but it still took me another 5 min. to get him in it was over 4 lbs my second largest ever. Largest was 5.25 lb caught at the sea wall at Emma wood. The rest of the day never got another bite altho I saw 6 or 7 more in the out flow. We tried for perch but never got a nibble. Went out yesterday with my grand daughter to 5th st and walked all the way out to the power plant never even wet my line didn't see a corbina. I dont fish till I see a corbina or a hole that they may be sitting in plus there were no signs of bait it was a good hike any way we picked up rocks and glass all the way back. The High tide has deposited water up on the beach and formed a large lake couple of hundred yds. long saw bait fish in it but no corbina. May be in 2 weeks the corbina will be in full season cant wait to get my hook in them.
