Launch and Return: Corona Del Mar, 9am - 12 I had planned on launching from Dana and fishing off Capo. But, the building winds would've meant a lot of hard paddling w/no cliffs to slow the wind.
Baits: T-rigged and Sled-headed Zoom Super Flukes in Baby Bass and Smokey Joe, Assalt Ringer in pearl/red skirt, and 6" Shaker in amber/red flake and red bluegill (I think). 3/8 Assalt weedless Jigs w/brown/orange skirt, white/orange skirt, and red/green skirt; various trailers.
Scent: none
Conditions: Water was dingy green w/the temp around 61ยบ. Sky was clear w/ a breeze at launch. About 10am the anticipated Santa Ana's started big time. The breeze turned into a solid 10-15 knots w/gusts at least double that. The line on my rods was whistling during most of the gusts.
Special Comments: Texas rigged Shakers took all the fish. Only short bites on the rest. I wanted to try some deeper structure off Pelican Point; but I waited too see what the wind would do before I paddled further south and out. I was glad I did because while it wouldn't have been dangerous to be out there, the wind would've been stronger and the paddle back would've sucked big time. Overall it was a nice day and much better than being at work.
Areas fished: stones off 4th point south of CDM back up to the 1st point
