Sat. presented the opportunity to get my Father, Steve & Daughter, Raina out for some of the local LB action. Been quite a while since I’ve had such a fun, relaxing, well rounded day of variety fishing. We started off with a full speed foamer mackerel bite at the bait receiver on the little spinning gear before running out to the flats for some good bass action including a double on a couple of toads:
Raina had her first sea sickness experience but bounced back better than I ever did. Mackerel pretty much hung with us throughout the day which were a perfect match for Raina with the barracuda coming through often enough to keep it interesting, including some serious logs. Managed a few rattlers & sharks:
along with a couple short halibut we bounced up around the shoe. Pretty sure my Dad was hung to a nicer model but managed to break it off eventually. Finished the day feeding the seals & playing with the bass/short flatties around the oil island. Had a good time going back to the basics, just enjoying fishing. Gonna be more of this in our future. Even used a piece of bait or 2.
