Fished in front of the cemetery on Tuesday evening from 6-8. Great incoming tide with lots of bait. The water was super clear and the fishing was excellent. I landed 9 Healthy Perch on a 4lb sliding rig baited with sand crabs. My roommate landed 5 and ended up getting the big fish of the night; 14 inch Barred Surf perch with an attitude. The fish was so fat it must have been a solid 3 pounds. We caught most of our fish just in front of the "boilers". The corbina were going off (my line that is). I must have seen 15 solid corbina, the biggest about 24-26 inches. They were coming up on to the beach with the incoming waves and digging wholes in the sand looking for bugs. I watched for a couple of minutes, amazed at the 4-inch wide by 2-inch deep hole they can dig in about 2 seconds. I saw one that looked just like a fat rainbow trout (spooked like one also). It may have been an illusion but I thought I saw a big red lateral line on him. I tried to catch one for a half an hour, got bored and went back to perching. If you get a chance head down for some light tackle fun. It would be a great place to refine some ocean fly-fishing techniques. 14 fish total, all released! -James
