#5671, "Salt Creek Report"

Fished the high tide today for just over an hour. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any sandcrabs (only a few micro-crabs). I used shrimp for bait (a first). Conditions were decent...small surf, but some wind and kelp. Caught/released nine surfperch (some large and some dinks). Saw no sign of any corbina at all. The kelp really started moving in at peak high tide. I conclude that shrimp is much better bait than squid for the perch...I would get nibbles or a fish on almost every cast! All the perch looked like they were spawned out.
