"Your bASS in a sling" ??? (smiles)

Seriously though, I do think about this a bunch, and its not so much that I am worried that the weight of a large bass in itself will damage its jaw, but rather, I worry about the fish getting stupid and beginning to kick from side to side, while hanging ! I try to pay really close attention to if the fish starts that slow, kind of wobbling action with its tail (they often do this before they bust loose with a full thrashing kick.

I think those slings could be a good idea, but also, how about just leaving a fish in your landing net, and subtracting the weight of the net ? Most of you use a net anyway, don't you ? Mine weighs exactly 2.0 lbs, so it makes the subtraction easy. This is how we weighed thousands of lbs of big squirmy catfish in the last few years.

Next the subject comes up of nylon nets being harmful to bass........ so do any of you use the rubber ones ? My concern would be on the amount of drag created by those through the water (since I almost always fish by myself and have to use my net one-handed). Also, although my net is not quite "Salmon sized", it's pretty close. Not sure if they make the rubber ones that big ?

I am interested to hear from anyone who uses one of these slings though.

Peace,
Fish
