#4121, "New Slammer?"
|
I just got a new Slammer today from Tacklewarehouse. It's different then all my others. My old ones are connected at the joint with 2 eye screws. The new one has one eyescrew in the rear part that is around a dowel that is inserted in the front portion.
The new one doesn't have as much free movement as the old one, but I think it'll be ok. One thing that does concern me though, is that the wood where the joint is at is not treated. It doesn't even have paint on it. But unlike the old ones, I can't just epoxy around the eyescrews and the joint because it has a deep hole drilled in it where the pin is placed. Epoxy or any other topcoat could cause the rear portion to adhere itself to the dowel on the front half.
Has anyone had any problems with the wood splitting on their slammers around the eyescrews? I've had this happen to an older one that has never landed on anything other then water. It split at the eyescrew and is working it's way towards the rear of the bait.
It also has a different paint job then the old ones. I like the new paint job better :D
