Went on a couple o' get-up-at-the-crack of-lunch-and-go-fish'n trips the last two afternoons and had a pretty great time. Started at Ladd's and fished til dark both days. The tides weren't the best for the hours I was on the water but the fish were still cooperative (though you had to work for 'em).

On both days I started out at the eastern rock wall at the entrance of the no wake zone (aka "the meatwall") and vertical jigged a bunch of smaller fish using a shad pattern Duh! spoon. Couldn't get anything of decent size so I went to main spot #2, the area where the old steamship is docked. There's a ton of bait there and it was impossible to NOT impale a shad on your retrieve. In hindsight I shoulda saved the all the shad in my livewell for flylining 'em during the slower times. Picked up a bunch of stripes (and three incidental largemouth to 16") throwing the Pointer DD, Team Daiwa Vibration, Super Spook and white bucktail jigs. Pick yr favorite lure--they's all working. They were only schoolies up to 20" but they fought nicely on the lighter gear I was using ('cept for my Super Spook rig, which had 20 lb line). I did have one monster blow up on the Spook though--felt its weight ever so briefly and wasn't able to hook it. Dang-o. Oh yea, there are a couple of old sailing ships working up and down the channel--a pretty nifty sight. Didn't see them flying a Jolly Roger nor did I receive any shots fired across the bow so I wasn't too worried about being boarded and walking the plank. Yarghh.
