Well first off thanks to everyone for another great time even if the fishing was really tough I still had an awsome time. Saturday I got up and noticed the cloudy sky and was kind of excited on the possibility of some shallow fish early. I paddled with Castro over to the dam area to start off. I tied on a black/watermelon 3/8oz jig and started fishing from 3'-20' dragging it out. On my 2nd cast I felt a small tick and set the hook after a pretty good fight I put my first fish in the livewell @ around 3lbs I was stoked and shaking :+ Next cast I hook another had it on for about 20-30 seconds and it came off...damn it.. I fished the jig for about 30 more minutes then switched to a 1/8oz darter w/ a bad shad flirt and picked up my 2nd fish in about 10 minutes in 20' of water no fish for the next 4 hours. I paddled over to the face of the dam and started drop shotting after going through about 10 dinks i finnaly landed my 3rd and final fish of the day. day 1 weight was 5.58 I think. Day 2 I got up to see bluebird skies ouch!! I stuck to the same plan by starting with the same jig and after 30 minutes and no bites it hit me that my buddy had tied a jig last winter to look like the craw he found. I quickly tied it on and 1st cast I got hit on the fall set the hook and put a 13/4 lb fish in the well. No more bites for about 2 hours when i went to the darter head again and a 6" arons magic knock off, after about 10 minutes I felt one pick it up set the hook got about 6 cranks when she turned and took some line then just came off.@!*& not again! I owe my re-focus to Joe Castro he got me calmed down enough to start fishing again. About 30 minutes later same spot I hooked into my last fish of the tourny. I paddled back to the wiegh in thinking to myself well I had a shot at least. When I heard that I might still be in it I was stoked. Thats my report not to exciting but I did learn alot once again and a big thanks to my man CASTRO for sticking with me and helping me keep my head in the game when I needed it, the thing that helped me most was always fishing with confidence and just keeping my head down and grinding for the bites I could get and not letting the ones I lost really get to me. Well once again thanks to everyone that was there and I look forward to fishing with everyone next year if not sooner. :+
