I bought a Body Glove-brand back brace at the Sportsmen's Expo (which is coming to San Mateo this week) a couple of years ago. It's not cheap -- maybe $50-60 -- but it helps immensely. They call it a 'Twin'-something-or-other. It's got a couple of stiff pads right at the lower back which gives it great support, and you can wrap the velcro'd neoprene belts as tight as you want.

Yeah, us *old guys* gotta come up with these *crutches* to help keep up with you young bucks!!!
