I had a good time fishing with Steve Pagliughi and couldn't have asked for better weather. With the DFG culling issue we had to do a 4 fish limit. We decided in the morning to fish Steve's water 1st since it would get crowded quick. We ran over near state park with the rest of the world and started rip'n. Pretty quick into it Steve gets a 2lb type fish in the boat then I get a 1.5lb fish. 15 minutes or so goes by and Steve farms a 2.5lbr, ouch but its still early. About an hour or so later I get a decent 5lbr on the Bagley's Ripbait and #2 in the boat. We worked this area for about another hour and a half with zero bites so we moved to an area near Lakeport Trailer Park. Right away Steve gets a 3lbr on the rip, but that would be the only fish after over an hour in the area. We then decide to run to an area I caught a couple fish Saturday during prefish and Steve had a follower and that was it. By this point I was kinda sic of doing what the rest of the world was doing and decided we should make a change. We decided to run into Rodman hoping to flip some fish and at least fill our limits. Its almost 11 when we get to the good stuff and Steve flips a 2.5lbr on a jig. We shortly then see a 6-7lb fish sunning and I make a couple pitches with the Ica and we both think this fish might be catchable but time is an issue since I only have 2 and he only has 3 in the boat. We move on filling the rest of the stuff with no bites. I then decide to throw a blade all the way out of Rodman and about 20-30 minutes in I get whacked and put a 2.5lb fish in the boat #3. A few casts later I get nailed again and my limit fish is in the well. Steve tells me now he needs one so I keep fishing fast trying to get out of Rodman to get Steve back to his fish. He was pulling his spinnerbait around this log trying to get it back before it gets hung up and he gets nailed and puts a 2.5lb fish in the boat and he has his limit. We continue throwing the blade and there eating it pretty good in here. We both catch more and cull fish but never get that big bite. I ended up with 12.75lbs and 5th place and still in the lead for AOY so I am happy with the results. I didn't have a great day on the water and didn't get into my groove until about noon, it happens.

Next stop Shasta BNT Shasta Region's 1st event of 2005.

Congrats to Alan Hunt for the win and Pat for the nice bag and second place and to Mark Langner for the nice limit and 3rd place finish.
