Hi Terry,

My name is Mark Langner, I'm the tournament director for the Fed R3 region.

You need to be a member of B.A.S.S. (in other words, subscribe to the magazine) and you need to be a member of a Federation affiliated club. You can fish one event without belonging to an affiliate club, but then after ya need to join one. If you need help with the club part, I help run a "ghost club". A ghost club is a club in name only that has no meetings and no tournaments, but is affiliated. It costs 20 dollars per year (all the money is sent into the bass federation). For the 20 bucks you get a subscription to bass times, a membership card, and you meet the club requirement. Ideally it's best to join a real club, but this is a way to compete when joining a real club isn't possible. I actually have since joined a real affiliated club, but I still help run the ghost club to help guys out. I can sign you up anytime for the ghost club, but I'm collecting money now (in nov and dec) for the regular guys that signup each year to renew their memberships (memberships go Jan thru Dec). I send the first group of renewals in at the end of Dec each year.

The cost per tournament is $70. There are optional "options" you can sign up for: $5 big fish option, $10 option, and $20 option but these are not required. However most people add the $5 big fish option cuz ANYBODY can catch big fish. You can get the entry forms from www.californiabass.org on the website. Entry forms and fees need to arrive to my house absolutely no later than Monday before the tournament. The earlier you send it in, the more chance you get to fish (if you don't have a signup partner) cuz I pair up open spots first come first serve. Although I try my best to get folks to help out when I'm short.

Please feel free to call me at 925-827-3979 (home) or 415-286-7966 (cell) or email me at marklangner@sbcglobal.net if you have any other questions.

Tight lines....Mark
