#33206, "Thank You Coyote Bait and Tackle..."

For partnering with BnT to host this tourney. As always the raffle prizes were top notch once again. One of these days I'll win one of those sweet rods but I can't complain about the tackle pack I brought home. All quality baits :-)

I would also like to thank all the participants who came out and fished. It turned in to a near perfect day after the weeks rain :+

My report goes like this...
Paul and I arrived Friday afternoon to partly cloudy skies and a light breeze. That only lasted about 30 minutes then it began to rain and rain and rain... nonstop until about 7:30pm or so. I did fish Friday a little but it wasn't long before I hit the beach. I pulled my boat way up the bank and called it a day.

Saturday morning I was surprised to see my boat sitting right at the waters edge. Yep, the lake had risen about three feet overnight. Oh boy I thought this ought to spread them out good :-(

Since I really had no plan and I don't know Coyote very well at all I decided just to do what I enjoy the most, chuck blades and flip the trees!

I started by tossing a blade into the trash blown up on the newly flooded shore line. A couple hundred yards down the bank I picked up my first blade fish of the year :-) Turned out to just be a tease though and I never got touched on a blade again.

Many hours later I got my second bite pitching an oxblood Boom Boom tube to the biggest tree trunks I could find in the flooded forest and landed a 7.2 which turned into the big fish of the day :7

I had pitched onto a little trash pocket next to the tree and the fish inhaled the bait as soon as it landed. The fish in the trees seemed to be suspending right below the surface so I started looking for big wood and trash. I stuck to throwing a Senko and the tube the rest of the day and I managed one more two pounder flipping the tube to end up with 3 fish for 11.1 and 3rd place.

I had my chances for more. I missed two Senko fish which tried to eat my bait as I was lifting it from the water. And had another missed bite on the tube x(

Thanks again to Coyote Bait! I picked that pack of tubes up there on my way to the lake Friday! :P

I hope to see all of you again at the next BnT "Pro Kickboat Open" (the big one) at Clear Lake in May.

Mitch
