#33330, "Great Delta Weekend"

This past weekend was a great two days on the river fishing some really fun tourney's on the river. Congrats to all the winners from both events. It was fun hanging out on Saturday with the Couts crew and Jeremy, thanks for convincing me to stay at your guys hotel.

On Saturday I was paired up with Dan Chester for the Sonoma delta team event. I had prefished the weekend before and knew we could go and catch some decent fish tossing senkos. We both rowed quickly out to the opening to Franks and I caught two back to back on senkos. As the big boats came idling by from Russo's we decided to boogie out of there cause the big engines were flying through the break.

Caught a few more througout the day, but hadn't gotten the bigger bites like I had hoped to and then it just started to click. I caught a 3.5 on a 5 inch senko off a point slowly dragging it along the bottom. Then a little bit later I pitched into a clump of tules and caught a 4+. The next pitch into the clump of tules a few feet away from the last fish the tule start shaking and I just swing cause I knew a fish was on the bait. It races out of the tules then back in then back out and this time it has a fish about twice it size following closely behind it. I've never been so disappointed to catch a fish just under 6. Chester and I ended the day with 22.29 and gave the rest of the top finishers a run for the money but we just fell a little short and ended in 4th place.

Sunday, it was muddy but I figured I could still get on the senko bite cause I'd been in whites the weekend before and they were shallow eating the senko, nothing really changed with the fish, just didn't get as many bites probably because it was just hard to see the bait. If I woulda, shoulda, coulda, executed it would have been a fun day. Lots of missed opportunities I had'em hooked, even got to see a couple and they weren't small, but I learned a lot and I know where some big fish are hanging out in Whites, I'll see yall out there next weekend. :+ :7 :+
