#47097, "Whites report"

First off, thanks to Jeff, Mitch, and Steve for running a smooth tournament and helping out with the weigh-ins. Also, congrats to Scott R., Scott T., Mike, and Tyler for cashing a check.

The morning started out with the tide topped out, over cast, and calm until 11 o'clock. It was a nice change of pace from the blustery conditions that we ussually have at this event. I caught my first fish of the day around 8:00 puching a beaver in a tulle clump with the tide pushing into it, around 3 lbs. My next 6 fish came on a frog with only 3 keepers, one being around 3 and the other two 13" rats. The frog bite was kinda funny, the small fish were choking it and I had at least 5 other "bites" where the relativley bigger fish would just roll on it and not take it under.

With the water being so calm and clear I noticed several fish I spooked while working my way on the outside weed edge. There were weeds 2-6' under water that extended about 40 yards into the middle of the chanel. I decided to take a page out of the Joe Castro hand book and tied on a Slammer. With in my first 10 casts, working it about 20 yards off the weeds swimming it with the tide, I got crushed! Another 3 in the box, filled my limit, and gave me a huge confidence boost in that bait. Whith in ten minutes I got another one to choke it, another 3 and culled a rat. About 15 min later I got another 3 to take it, culled my last 13incher and that was the it for me. Around 11 the wind picked up, the tide stopped moving, and I didnt get another bite for the rest of the day.

All in all it was a fun day on the water for me. I havn't caught a slammer fish since I moved from the Bay Area so that was a huge bonus. We had some controversy at the weigh in that Im not going to get into on here. I'm going to be contacting Jeff and Mitch some time this week to straighten things out. Wether it be adjusting points or adjusting rules so that type of thing never happens again.

Thanks again to all that showed up. See y'all on the water at Kings next month.
