Can anyone here help me figure out a way to stop sliding forward in my tube? No matter how tight I buckle up I tend to get a downward forward slide. My partner has the same problem. I've tried different types of air cushions. Thought of opening the seating area and stitching in extra nylon to create a lower bum area, thus sitting a little lower and hopefully further back.

I can tell you what I've done...First off...I normally sit forward in my tube anyway. I sit on the edge of the seat. But...I have actually raised the front of the seat by pushing the sides of the tube out. I guess I should tell you that I fish from a u-boat. Instead of using the 2-piece pvc spreader bar, I've made my own out of a piece of copper plubing tubing with the ends capped off. I'll tell you...it sure makes it nice. It seems to also give you a bit more room in the tube as well.

Well...it won't completely fix the problem but I like they way mine works. Good luck and let us all know what you decide. Thanks...

Darin

My dad had the same problem with his U boat. He added a crotch strap between the spreader bar and the front of the seat which seems to have helped.

i apprciate your tip. A fellow in England suggested putting a gusset in the seat making the back of the seat lower than the front. I've sewn canvas before and have no problem working with thick or heavy materials. The trick is to making the seat similiar to one in which you are sitting in a backwards decline.

You can also go to Sportmart and by a square Coast Guard approved flotation cushion(The one you would toss to someone who fell overboard) They are $10.00

I have a Trout Unlimited Kennebeck, which I love, but I need to sit higher in the tube. I noticed that by sitting on the floatation device, I not only sit higher in the tube(About 3 inches higher) but I also get the side benefit of equal weight distribution, so I don't slide forward. I secure it with bungee cords.

Lastly, it is nice to know that I have extra safety if my suspender type PFD did not deploy, and I could grab onto the cushion if I went out of the tube....God Forbid!

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the advice. I tried something that seems to work well. I had a kids swimming noodle. I cut a 19" length and then cut it like a submarine sandwich bun, lengthwise. Then I cut a 16" length of 1" wood dowel and inserted it into the middle of the "sandwich" having cut out a groove. Then I duct taped it together. Then I cut 2 lengths of 1" nylon strapping, forming a loop a one end. I then sewed the loop and sewed each strap to the nylon strap that supportes the middle of the seat. The "noodle" support is now at the front of the seat just under my knees. The crotch strap as well as the sewed in support straps keeps the "noodle in place and gives me a "bucket" area for my bum. I have also made an extra cushion using 3 noodle pieces (without the dowel)and sewed them side by side and am going to place them just behind the support noodle. This should help me sit higher. I appreciate the imput from you.

VERY INGENIOUS!

So, it's like the Racing seats in a sports car?

Cool!

Take Care!
