#3019, "Major oil spill at Pyramid"

Bad news:
40,000 gallons of refined oil spilled into Pyramid today due to a landslide away from the lake causing a pipeline to break.

only good news (if you can call it that):
It was in the southeast cove next to the dam.

Man, it looks ugly on the news pics. If (BIG IF) they can contain it in the cove without it getting to the discharge to Piru Creek, a major KUDOS will be needed for the emergency clean-up crew.

That "corner" of the lake is where the prevailing winds, surface currents, etc blow all the debris from the lake. IF there HAD to be an oil spill, this is the best possible scenario.
The reports of the past couple of days was that the spill was anywhere from 120,000 gallons upward.

This cove can be seen from the southbound 5 freeway. Anyone get a peek?

yea we got to see this comeing back from the aquaduct. it looks bad very very bad. the biggest problem i see is all the workers just standing around looking at the spill. there was none of the spill floats in the water and everyone is up by the highway working. nothing being done to the lake problem they have caused.
