I plan on going to CO. River soon. I will be fishing near Blythe mainly south from there. I will be going for flathead catfish. I think I will try live gold-fish or shiners or? Also, I will try for bass. When fishing the main river, the flow is super strong. Any suggestions on fishing when the flow is this strong? I tried for cats at some places that just swooped my 4 oz. bank sinker up to shore. I try to find some eddys but I just guess by sight. Where is the bait store that sells live bait? I know there is one now. I just don't know where exactly. Thanks for any info!

BLYTHE: Flathead catfish continue to prowl the river and some are being
taken on live goldfish, bluegill, or tilapia. Bass fishing continues to be
very good in most backwaters. Plastics, live shiners, Senkos, or crawdads
have been scoring limits of bass to 6-0. For more information, call B&B Bait

Hey Fisher,
I have a partner who fishes that section quite a bit. He swears by live bluegill caught out of the river for some seriously large flatheads. Unlike channels and blues, flatheads really prefer live bait and don't be afraid to fish a 5" to 7" gill out there, some of those flatheads could swallow a small dog. I do hear alot about 50 lbers & bigger ones caught out there on live bluegills. Gotta bring my 4 lb. test. And my 30 lb. test.

Since you are going south of blythe,there is a good place for gills at the entrance of cibola right past palo verde.Its maybe 20 miles south of blythe.We were there a few weeks ago and scored bait with no problem.There is a cove with camping right off the river and the gills are back in that cove.Then put em in a big cooler with an bubbler and go accros the bridge to the arz side,go south till you see some ponts/little jetts.there are three or four of them,nice current breaks.They are maybe 4 miles south after you go on the bridge.We got a few small flatheads about 5 lbs and a striper about 7lbs.I fish the imperial valley more than the river,at the Alamo river and the bigger canals,the all american and the east highline.Good luck,there are some absolute mogan flatty cats in that river.
