The report this week was that the deeper fish are schooling up and are hammering spoons and Little Georges. If you don't have electronics to locate the fish, just head out to the dam and fish the left side where it transitions from rock to mud. The bait will also collect near the aerators just off the dam, so that is usually a good area to find the bass. Beware though, there are several big catfish (10 lbs. plus) that will also eat the spoon. Have fun.

Yes, it is a private lake, but anyone can fish it for $20 or $40 a day. Depending on who is at the front entrance.

There is always a huge shad die-off each year at this lake, but some always manage to survive. The bait that the deep fish are puking up are good sized (3 to 4 inches). The fish that are in the shallow brush are having a hard time getting fed, but those deep fish have found the food.

Oso is down in Rancho Santa Margarita, South Orange County I think. It's roughly half way between Los Angeles and San Diego via the 5 Fwy. It's a catch and release lake only that has drastic mood swings with respect to the bite. It also has a great variety of structure, both on the shoreline and under the water. Hey CJ, do you know how the water level is right now? Last time I was there, the water was down at least 12 feet (about a year ago). Thanks, Terry G.

The water is down a little bit, but not as much as years past at this time of year. The small amount of rain we've already had will help. Good Luck.
