#461, "October 8, 2000 - Delta"

Today Ryan, his Dad and I hit up the delta all day. We launched at Orwood and fished a loop around to cruiser haven, disco bay and back. Overall the fishing was pretty good although we never got the big bite. We caught fish in the morning on senkos and yamamoto lizards. Ryan and I cranked a few mid day and in the afternoon we went to disco and did the senko/worm thing for quite a few dinks and a couple 2 pounders. I picked up a few on rattle traps as well. We probably could have put together 9 or 10 pounds for our best 5. The delta sure does have a lot of bass in it. My big excitement of the day was a stinkin catfish that hit my drop shot rig in disco. Thought I finally had something decent, NOT! Fun day all around on the delta.

Here's the pics.

Drop shot on the delta? That just doesn't sound right!

Where are the jig fish?

Just had to try it in Disco Bay. Docks were in 12-20 feet of water and I was hoping for some bigger fish out deeper. Thought I had that 5 pounder hooked up but up came that catfish. I was like what the????!!
Jig bite I guess hasn't been doing much on the delta lately, although the crankbait thing is definitely going on.
