#16446, "Night Lights?..."
|
Hey everyone, it always seems that if I want to spend a lot of time on the water I end up having to make an overnight trip, a full day usually is hard to get. The evening and morning bites are always nice, but I want to catch more bass when the lights go out. I've tried fishing floating and sumbersible lights at a dock and spill way at McLure, both of which spots I know have PLENTY of big bass. For some reason I can't get anything with these lights. But I know plenty of others who have given photographic proof that these lights can work miracles. I always get an insane grouping of baitfish and bluegill around these lights, and once in a while, something decent will zip through, and there's a decent amount of rises around the perimeter of the light proving to me there and feeding fish there at the time. I have tried live minnows, shallow, deep, next to the light, towards the edge of the reach of light, a few feet outside the edge of the light. I've tried crawdads in the same manner, I've used spoons, spinners, dropshoted lizards and worms, even tried live crawlers in various places. I've used an array of topwater lures, still nothing. These lights DEFINITELY bring the fish there to eat, but now I need to know how to get them to eat what I want, lol. ANyone got any tips on how to use these submersible or floating lights to your advantage? Any help would be greatly appreciated. SIncerely, Hunter/Lost in the dark

Hey, thanks guys, guess I was sorely mislead on this one. I was under the assumption as well that lights weren't the best for bass, then I was shown a few pictures of some really nice bass, three were 7-9lbs, and I was told he had caught these fishing under a floating light. But then again we all know fishermen... lol. This may not have been completely true, The first couple of times I fished this light I caught a couple of smaller bass, biggest being about 13 inches, but that was it. The one big advantage I did have to fishing this light was first thing in the morning. Overnight obviously I'd get and enormous selection of baitfish, and first thing in the morning when the hits started up, and the light was no longer needed, the area I'm fishing still held a LOT of bait, which is what I consider to be a contributing part to a very succesful morning. Looks like next time around maybe I'll stick a light somewhere a little distance from where i plan to fish, then go back to the light at sunrise, shut it off, and fish in the baitfished filled area. Thanks again guys, Hunter
