This is a report for trout fishing today. I went with a friend whom always seems to catch them. We both caught are limit though. Nice size fish to say the least. These stockers were above 1 lb. I seen some below 1 lb. but, most were not. Our day started at 9 am. Windy it was. Not too bad though. The ramp itself held the most fish. So, of course, we were there. Here is the break-down: (these are the keeper fish only) 5 on yellow/sparkle Power Bait, 2 on Power Worms, 2 on mini-jigs, 1 on a dragged nightcrawler. The rest released were: 1 on a dragged nightcrawler, 1 on a Power Worm, 1 on a mini-jig, 1 on a Kastmaster, & another on Power Bait. We did not use spinners much. A DFG officer stopped by. Still nice to see them. Hopefully no one got greedy. He was OK with us releasing fish but, he said some others may not be OK with that because technically 10 fish for 2 people is LIMIT. If you cause the death of any fish beyond your limit you are responsible! Fines will be implemented! POACHING?! Hey, I don't wanna be labeled a POACHER! We stoppped using Power Bait after our limit, anyways. Wow, this is a long post. I hope some of you are not thinking ("please shut up now"). Well, I still have lots more to speak of ... JUST KIDDING! :+

Nice going, glad to see you got to fish a lot I usualy dont keep any fish unless they take the bait to deep and only 4, with 5 on the stringer Im afraid the police there will give you a ticket especialy the ones on the boat they even search the car from time to time but then its good it keeps the guys honest. I was there from7:30 to 8:15 got my five trout and left for the east ramp, trout was being caught there to. I did not see any stripers. fishing should be good till Thursday

Bert7 & Fisheez.
Where were you guys at the West Ramp yesterday ? My bro-in-law and I were there from the time they open . We fished on the left side of the ramp ....My bro casted a Charlie swimbait for about 10 min and the stripers exploded on the bait but missed it ( he did not pay attention when that happens ). We both throwing swimbaits, hopkins & plugs for stripers for awhile but nothing happens again,( I stopped because my shoulder is killing me, not healing from the injury yet). I started fishing for trout at 8.15 and we got easy limit , left at 9.30am.
The trout are hanging tie in the West Ramp area.
Took my son out fishing for the first time in the afternoon ( 8 yrs old ) but it very slow, may be the wind . My son caught 1 & happy with it,:-)
Khanh.

I got there at 9 am. I fished the rocks on the right side of ramp until 9:30 am. I did see some one casting a large trout/bait at the end of the dock. I did not see any one catch a stiper during the time I was out there. I moved to the left side of the ramp at 9:30 am & fished until 1 pm. I usually release my fish. If it gets throat hooked then, I give it to some one who wants it. Although, you can not catch (KILL) more than 5 fish (trout). That means no catching 10 and giving 5 to the guy who is getting skunked. Oh well, rules are rules. 10 in possession applies to fishing other areas, not Castaic Lake. As per DFG officer. That 10 in possession is awkard. It should not even exist. You can catch 5 and give all 5 to the guy who gets skunked. But, that means you both gotta go home (technically). Forget it just catch & release. Or catch 5 & go home. Less complicated. Please correct me if any errors exist here.

I was there from 7:15 to 8:00 fished the ramp on the left side caught 3 trout in 10 min. and my budy got 2 we left to go to the main ramp to see if any thing was going on. lower lake is starting to show 1 1/2 lb hold over at last. nice and plump stomach filled with snails end of next month they should be pink or orange flesh. Go to the point and cast about 170 ft out to the brick factory (castaic brick) on the hill.
