Does anyone know of some ponds in the Ventura Co. area that would be good to take my 6 yr old to. She loves Bluegill fishing but since we've been here we have not found any good fishing holes for her.

Good question Dave, as well as a very worthy one. There's nothing like taking a kid bluegill fishing. As far as crappie are concerned, good luck! Once in a while I'll be fishing Cachuma or Casitas and get into them, but this is rare. The only suggestion I can make is to go to Casitas (it sounds like you're around the Ventura area) in the Spring with some 2lb test and pieces of nightcrawler and fish right next to the small woody debris along the banks. There's usually tons of smallish bluegill, redear, and even bass hangin around these areas all over the lake. If size matters to you both, simply cast a bit further and sink your bait down a little deeper. Hope this helps.

Scott, thanks for the suggestion. I have gone to Casitas a few times but I will give the bluegill a try. It is a blast fishing with the young ones!
