Ive been real interested in joining the amatuer bass circuit, or at least a few tournaments just for fun. Is there a website or something that I can find information about such events, rules and guidelines?

Bryan

Bryan, what type of tourney are you looking for? As a team or by your self?

Ok if as a team then you have lots to choose from:

American Bass (ABA)
Western Outdoors (WON)
Anglers Choice
National BASS
100% Bass

If you are fishing by your self then:

CA. BASS Federation

All have websites with all the info you will need.

You may even consider a club at first to get your feet wet and see how it is. A club is less stress and more fun. They will share more info and you will learn more. The regular tourney circuits are very competitve and they don't share much info at all. So it depends on what your fishing skill level is and how much money you are willing to spend or sometimes donate.

It sounds like a club would actually be better.

I live near orange county. Are there any bass clubs around here?

Thanks for the help

Tomorrow (6-21-03) is the 4th Event in the California Bass Federation Region 7 schedule at Beautiful Lake Casitas. These are great low pressure tournaments for boaters and non boaters. They are a draw style with own weight formats, meaning you are fishing for your own 5 fish limit. Nice thing about these tournaments is the fact that a non boater gets half the day to fish their waters from the front of the boat. This is also a great way to learn a new lake...Draw Ron and it's like a free guide trip ;)

Also for all of you on the Travelers Circuit, the region 7 events are some of the last chances in Southern California.

Currently Sean James and Ron Cervanka are tied for first place in the points standings Jeff Grossman, JR Kondracki and George Fedor all tied for third. With only two events left, the points race is defiently heating up.

Sign ups are at the Lake on the Coyote Ramp at 4:30am. The basic entry fee is $70 (With all the options it's $105).

You must be a member of B.A.S.S., the California Bass Federation and a Federation Club (Southland Bass, Ted's Bass club is a Federation Club)

The federation is a blast. I fish in the San Diego region and we just finished up our year a couple weeks ago. They are very low stress tournaments, unless your battleing for Angler of the Year. Not to mention, there is the chance to make it to the Classic. Every year 5 guys from the Federation fish the Classic, so whos to say it wint be one of us California boys.... I am looking forward to the Delta and our State Fish-off. Finishing in the top 12 against those Delta rats will be a difficult thing, but it can be done.

A club is a great thing to join as well, its a great way to meet people who fish and to get your feet wet in the tournament scene. One thing to remember about the tournament thing, is its still just fishing. Dont put any extra pressure on yourself, or you might find it is not as much fun as just going fishing. And, I dont know how well you fish, but dont get discouraged if you dont do so hot in the first couple of years. You will hear it refered to as "paying your dues". Not too many people burst onto the tournament scene and have instant sucess. I started fishing tournaments when I was 15, and it wasnt till I was 19 that I got my first Angler of the Year title in our club in SD.

Join a club and check out the Federation. Those 2 should get you alot of tournament knowledge, and you'll be on your way....

Cam
ps. I plan on fishing the last region 7 tourney at Castaic, havent fishied with that region yet, should be fun.

If I can remember how to get to Castaic, har har, I'll be there in July. Haveing 35 tourneys in SD this year has made it difficult to get "away" to fish. I am looking forward to spending a lot of time on the Delta!!!!!

Nice job at Casitas Brian!!! Thats a great looking fish..

Cool, looking forward to have you come up. While you're at it, invite all of the San Diego region guys. Castaic has a GOOD bite going now.
