Know that moss I've been complaining about. Well, it might not be so bad. While I would prefer that it was gone, it was a BIG help tonight. I actually saw one of the pinheads I know. He showed me a polaroid of a nice bass (he was calling it 12#, and probably was). Said he got dragging a worm across the top of the moss. So after trying my bag of tricks for zip, I tried a zipper on top of the moss. Got me my personal best because of it. Now I wish I had a scale and camera. It was probably the same one the pinhead caught. Blew away the 8 I had a few weeks back. It was a fun fight too, can't say that too often w/ these LM.. It took drag a few times (granted I was fishing 6#), jumped and tried a few runs into the denser moss. When I got it to shore I still had no idea, I thought it was the 7 again. I actually gave it slack so that I could hop the rail and get down to water level. Pulled it's head out to lip it, and was shocked at the size. I even held it sideways and supported it's stomach so I could get a better look. Now if I could only get a Calico in the double digits, what a fight that would be.

Also had 2# right after the big one. Dumped a couple more, then it went dead. Tried for another hour for nada. Guess I have a new option, good timing too, things have been dead lately.

Alright Ed,
That's it!!! You've gone too far. I've stood by while you've caught bass after bass, and even let that (those) 7lber slide, but this is over the line. A double digit?!?!?! I'm putting an end to this madness right now. I want you to stop fishing for largemouths and go back to those spotted kind!!! You're makin us look bad man!!! lol. Nice job bro. Maybe I ought to come down a day or two early for the Mustang trip and fish some of these ponds with ya...

Nice, Ed! I got a nice 4 pounder out of there this evening, the best one I've caught out of there since elementary school! Was that Joey that got the 12? (My guess was it wasn't really a 12 after talking with him, but still an epic fish!) He was hooked up to a carp between 15-20 pounds, that's when I met him. (He claimed 40 at first, but hey, those things look like submarines in a small pond like that!) Unfortunetly, after a long battle on a borrowed Zebco spinning reel on a broken crappo rod, it busted him off about 2 feet from the net I was getting ready to scoop it with. Pretty cool, definetly attracted a crowd! He is a cool kid, fought that thing like a pro on light line. I'm going to be paying more attention to this place in the next couple of weeks! Let's hook up and fish! I got my healthy one on a Texas rigged brown and red craw. As far as the moss goes, that carp took out lots of it during that battle!

Chris Email me your pn# if you are available on short notice and at night. That is pretty much how it always is for me. I usually know about 5 or 6pm if I'll be hitting it. Usually, I don't go till 9 or 10pm. Last night was a fluke getting there just after sunset. But, I'm glad I did.

Joey is an excellent angler. He can get annoying, but he's alright overall. It's too bad most of the other kids can't get past his problems. He puts up w/ a lot of crap. It's one thing to put up w/ it as a pinhead. A whole 'nother thing when its from your peers. He could teach them a thing or two if they were willing to shut up. Anyways, I thought he had been exagerating, until I saw the Polaroid. It was a horrible shot (darkness is horrible for those cameras), but convinced me enough to call it 10-12#.

Mine had no belly and was still a huge. I had to turn it and support the belly to get a good look. Thing could've fit a small cat in it's mouth. I almost walked over to the road to show passing cars, just couldn't get over it. He too left quite the trail in the moss. Can't believe I gave him slack to hop the chain, I should have lost him then. I'll think twice next time though.

Was the 4 your only fish? When did you leave? I got there about 20min. after sunset. What about thurs. night maybe? Won't know for sure until sometime that day though, just depends on my work load and wife. Let me know.

Hey Ed- That is killer about the large girls coming out of there- I got just the one fish yesterday, I was only there for about an hour, left about half an hour before sunset. I tried to e-mail you, but it wouldn't work when I clicked on your e-mail. E-mail me your e-mail address or phone number and I'll get in touch with you. bassnet@concentric.net

I emailed you my #, give me a call. I hit the ponds tonight for a couple hours. Started around 11pm. Didn't have even a bite the 1rst hour. Then right as I decided to head for the harbor, I dumped one. I had just cast a zipper into a whole in the moss, when it picked it up and ran left. But, when I swung, it had already doubled back. Too much slack on the swing I think. Eventually pulled a 1 and a 3 slowly retrieving a weightless zipper (junebug of course) in the big holes.

Are you free tomorrow night?

O.K. I'll stop. NOT. Mayhaps you could convince your parents to spend a few days extra down this way. We could hit the ponds, and/or hit Grisolm for some nighttime sand bass. Weather is almost perfect too. My time will be a bit more free by then, I hope. Though I will have 3 papers to write, otherwise my teacher may shoot me. Two are already due, but I have my final show in two weeks so that's where the energy is going. We'll see...
