<center><font size="1" color="#ff0000">LAST EDITED ON Nov-14-99 AT 01:38 AM (PST)</font></center><p>Ahhhh, another day at the lake. Solo mission today as Matt was doing school work and Seth went off surfing. I pretty much fished the same areas I've been fishing lately, but I tried some different lures and did a lot of metering around looking at the fish finder trying to find another honey-hole. I spooned a keeper off the private boat docks straight away followed by a micro bass along the lines of what Brian's buddy caught at Cachuma (see report below this message). Worked the docks for a while then headed to the good spot from Thursday. Got one on the 5" rainbow trout cardiffplastics swimbait right away. Fish was about 15". Worked the area and had no more bites so I switched to shaking a 6" robo worm (baby bass color) with a brass n' glass and picked up one more about 13". Then it was off to some steep rock walls near jackass canyon, but they didn't produce any bites so I went out and metered around in the main channel across from Salsipuedes bay looking for an area where I saw some guys catch some fish spooning kastmasters on Thursday. I found this ridge that came up from 31 feet to 24 feet then back down to 30 feet but it didn't seem to have any fish on it that I could see on the fish finder or catch. So after wasting a lot of time there I pulled in to Salsipuedes and wonder of wonders, didn't have any bites. This cove has been lousy for me ever since July. Oh well. So I tried something new and went over to the coves across from the marina and resolved to flip the grass with a reaper. I picked apart a 100 yard piece of bank for about 45 minutes and no bites. Hmm, I guess they weren't hanging out under the remaining shoreline weeds. <BR>As it got dark I did the usual thing and went in towards the marina cove. On my way I fished the rocky flat area out around the corner from the marina and picked off a nice 3-7 on the rainbow trout swimbait. That was fun, the fish just whacked it. Few things as satisfying as bouncing a 3 fish into the boat. Worked my way in to the marina cove and talked to Dean at Angler's Outpost who was busy catching small crappie off the dock on mini jigs. Watched him catch 4 before he lost his jig to a bass on 4 pound test. He said they were hanging out under the schools of small shad that have appeared under the docks lately. I pulled back towards the back of the marina cove and saw some bait fish puddling around (small shad too I think). Threw over there and had two quick fish on the swimbait. They crushed it but they were only pound and a half type fish. Nice way to end the day. <P>

Rob,<BR>Hey bro- its nice too read about some variety. I know it seems like wasted time metering around-it will pay off eventually. I found a great spot the 1 time I fished the lower lake in a boat.
