Just thought I'd let you know about my trip today. Walked a good 2 mile stretch of the Duct on the west side today. No surface action for the stripers but the cats were wide open. Released 10 of the 12 caught unharmed, kept 2 for the table. Largest was 11.4 and the runt was 3 pounds. Not bad for 3 and a half hours. All on chicken livers. The warm weather seems to be loosening their lips a bit, hope this heat keeps up and gets the linesides going.
On another note, anybody know how to take decent pics of a fish when you are the only one there. I tried but being so close they came out blurry, guess I need longer arms.
Hey onelove head west partner, they are hiting good right now.

Tight Lines,
Bank Pounder

Sounds like a real good day of kittie fishing.Hopefully I will get my butt out that way when it gets warmer and try for the linesiders. Have you ever fished the aqueduct at night? Might be good in the summer?

As far as taking pics by yourself, your best bet is a self timer, I think that's what it's called. Most digital cams have this feature where you can press the button and it will delay for 10 secs or so then flash a warning light then take the picture. Fish Chris is the king of the one man pic operation. You just need to have a steady, flat suface to set your camera on and your good.

Or.... throw the fishy in the air and take some action shots ;-)

Thanks for the report... Trever

Hey Bank Lber,
Thanks for the update. I will plan on going out this week for some cats.
I am tired of trout. I don't usually eat them any ways.
Catfish soup! MMMM sounds good!
What areas did you hit? East side of the 14 fwy or west side of the 14 fwy? Do you ever go up towards Quail Lake? How are the flows? Did you need heavy weights to keep your rig near bottom?

Hey Fisheez,
I was on the west side of the 14. Only using 1/2oz of weight
. Cast it out and walk the bank as it drifts along the bottom. The 2 I kept had empty bellies so they should really be going on the feed as the heat wakes em from their winter slumber. Ya ever need a partner let me know. I am usually out most weekends that I'm in town. On another note how did ya do at the tourney at Apoolo?

Hey Bank,
I went TUES. 3-9-04. First, I hit 180th (I think?). I usually know by sight because of some dirt roads I take to get there.
I have the 2 pole stamp so I rigged 1 up for cats & set 1 up for stripers. While I was casting a bucktail jig I had a good double-thump bite on my other cat pole. I was hoping it would hook itself but nope. Got no bites after that. Fished there for about 2 hrs. I decided to hit 300th because it's reliable for the most part. Smaller fish but more around. I set up for cats only & 7 min. later a dink striper. See what I mean? He hit a nightcrawler. Then, I move to another spot & got a 16 in. cat. They ARE skinny right now! No belly really. Little meat too. They were both released.
Maybe next weekend (3-20-04) we can meet somewhere along the duct. What's your favorite spot?

Fisheez,
I picked up my cats on the last outing west of the 14 off of Ave S. I have to fly back east early next Sunday for a couple weeks work, but Saturday I can fish a few hours in the A.M. If ya want to meet let me know, we can trade secrets. lol.
My cats mainly had empty bellies also, I gotta try draggin crawlers, everybody seems to get the linesides that way.

Holler at ya, Pounder. Saw a couple of nice cats come out of the SV access point last week. Water is warming up! Saw a couple of striper feeding on the early shad at the edges too...Can't wait to get to the linesides, although a couple of cats sound good right about now too.

I'll be out there soon enough. Thanks for the update.

Peace,

Onelove,
That is great news, you saw the linesides starting to feed. I need to get back over there and hit that section again. Just picked up some new swimbaits that I'm dying to try, the Mega Bait Charlies, man they swim great. Good news about the cats too, any size to them? My next few weekends are gonna be chaotic, but will definetely be there in about a month, hope the heat keeps up and the linesides stay hungry, thanks for the input.

Tight Lines,
Bank Pounder
