#129, "Pyramid Stripers/Smallmouth/Largemouth"

Well, I did something I haven't done in forever. A friend and I took the old ridge route from Castaic to Gorman. Got to the lake Saturday afternoon. Made some shad on the way to our camping spot for stripers that night. No striper boils but caught some small largemouthh and a nice keeper smallmouth on the bait, A nice bonus-came for the stripers.
After seting up camp at dark we began chumming dead shad with a sling shot. We set out 6 rods with water bubbles and sliding egg sinkers. More shad showed so I scooped up some more. Our first bite cAme around 8pm. A nice 15" striper that we ate immediately. AFter that , the next few hour produced 1 bite but that was it. I started to get a little buzzed, actually piss drunk, around midnight. I decided to make a move and me and my buddy packed up for a move out to a sandbar point.
Just getting packed up was a job. We got to the point and I slinged about 20 dead shad pieces actually halves. Than we sent out some live ones on our tried and true striper rigs. Some drinking and chumming had me exciting. My buddy got bit on the sinker and landed a nice 3-4 pound school fish.He promptly landed another on his bubble rig.
I started to get tired after the lull in the action for a few hours. I got awakened to my clicker going off to a school striper. That got me up for good. Me and Wes landed 5 stripers between us (2 for me , 3 for Wes). The morning came pretty quick and it was all over. The shad was all dead and I couldnt land anything on crankbaits or spinnerbaits. Not a single boil seen, I used to see that place go off with boils

No bro, I just rig up with one or the other. The bubble rig filled with water is 2 oz. It sinks slow and allows you to get bit on suspended stripers. The slider obviously anchors your bait to the bottom-no secret there!
