Well it was a great night of fishing for my son and I. We ended up with 13 cats to 10.5 pounds, kept 2 for a fried catfish and eggs breakfast. The striper bite was on and off. Had a hard time keeping them on the larger swim baits. Landed 5, biggest was 9.2 on the scale, all released. Had one to the bank that was and easy 13 if it was an ounce but she rolled at the last second and my AC plug , which only had one tine of the back treble in the roof of her mouth, came out and nearly got me in the leg. Numerous blow ups on the top waters which made the night great.
The kittys all came on regular and cured chicken livers and no stripers on bait. They seemed to be cruisin the top of the water column. There is something great about topwater fishing at night. Since there was hardly any moonlight you'd just feel your bait thumpin on your rod tip then a huge splash and bendo. All of the strikes were very agressive.
One word of caution. It is the desert here and not much water around so the duct attracts it's share of critters at night, especially our friends with the marachi's on the end of their tails. We came across 4 rattlers last night looking for a drink, so keep this in mind if your out there after dark.
Well we are hungry for breakfast here, and I got some filleting to do, fish hard and fish often, beats the hell outta work anyday.

Tight Lines,
Bank Pounder

Sorta like fried chicken and waffles? It just sounds like a little much for the morning. My stomach hurts just thinking about it.

2 Scrambled eggs and a 1# fillet sounds about right for me.

Hey Bank,
That sounded like an awesome night. Did you do the split-shot thing and walk the bait for the kittys? How was the water flow? RANCH? OR "S"pot? You can email me if you would rather keep it under wraps.

Mar-e-ah-chees on their tails ... HAHA! LOL! :7 The Mohave green rattlesnake is the least agressive out here. BUT, you are more likely to encounter the other rattlers. Which can and will PURSUE you IF felt threatened. I gotta update my rattler-bite-kit. :o

Hey Rick,
Yeah it was the split shot rig I told ya about, man it works great. They were Mojaves last night so wasn't concerned too much. As for the location, it was you and your Dad's spot about 1.5 to 2 miles west from the road. Get out there, the kitty's were really hungry, and the linesides are on the bite.

To be completely honest with you I used to use (past-tense) a high/low rig with 2 oz. weight because of the current. So I learned to fish cats that way. But, last time I went out for cats I used that split-shot rig & wham-oh! Lots of kitties at Irvine. 10 fish in 4 hours. And not everyone was catching fish. Even 1 of my friends was not even hooking-up because he chose to rig that other way. He would get bites but no hook-ups. I am a believer now! I have tried the slider-rig at the duct and I did get a cat. But I guess I have been to stubborn to change. Well, now I am changing. Split-shot OR slider-rig from now on. 10 lb. test and loose drag! Loose drag cause sometimes when you lip-hook those dudes you can lose'em when you pull with tighter drag. You know.

1.5 or 2 miles out? Way past the bridge? Must be. I think the bridge is about 1 mile. Gotta go! Thanks Chet!

Yes Sir! I will keep it clean!

P.S. >>>
The mohave greens ARE MORE dangerously venomous. Thankfully not agressive! :-)
