are there any lakes that i can fish near westhills, the closer to devry the better (roscoe and fallbrook)?

Hey, if you just want to have some fun, try Balboa Lake (just south of Balboa Blvd. and Victory) Tons of bluegill, occational catfish). If you want to fish for bigger Cats, try Hamsem Dam (Sunland)check the map. Go to the lower lake(sandi beach). If you can travel a little further, you can go to Castaic Lake (118 East-5 North - get off at Parker Road,follow signs. You can fish the upper lake or lower lake there. You can also fish Malibu Creek (101 North-Las Virgenes Rd. South-look for it). Or you can go over Topanda Cyn. to the beach and Surf fish. That's actually really close to you.There are some small private ponds in West Hills, but you need permition to get in there.

mainly bass, but would like some bluegill to fall back on if the bass arent biting.

i just want a close place to go to and fish for an hour or two when my classes end.

has anyone fished there lately? i got skunked last time i went with nightcrawlers, but that was in april, maybe the fish bite in the summer heat, and would lip ripperz work?

Balboa lake is actually full of tilapia. I just went the other day and the bite has not yet picked up yet. if you go now, dont be expecting to catch a lot. in a few weeks when the weather gets even hotter, the bite will pick up and you will catch atleast 30 or 40. Try the waterfall area or by the first parking lot. Just make sure u wait a week or two.

Or you can transfer to Devry Pomona and you'll be approximately 7 minutes from the campus parking lot to gate at Puddingstone, I used to fish it between classes. As fall back options you have Santa Fe Dam which about 20 minutes to the West of the Pomona Campus but I think Pudd is much a better choice. You also have the SG river up Azusa Canyon (about 30 minutes up the mountain from school. There are a couple more options that are about 30 minutes out. That is of course without traffic. If you take the time to learn it you won't have to look any further then Pudd. I recommend buying the after class bass pass to get in to Pudd. Try to avoid the gate fee which was $6 but now might it be $7 I know it changed about a month or two ago but I'm not certain may even be $8.
If you transfer it's well worth getting the pass. It will work for SF Dam, Legg Lake, Eldo, and Castiac or at least it used to work for all those places. I'm sure someone on the board will know and be able to provide the info on that.

As much as I love Pudd, though i dont catch much, im not moving to or transfering to Pamona, then id have to drive there from N Hollywood, a minimum one and a half our drive. that pass should work everywhere in socal (unless im thinking of something else).

Used to go to devry myself and faced the same dilema. I did happen to cruise around the Chatsworth Res., litterally 2 min., just north of Devry. I believe there are two bodies of water; the main Res. and a smaller looking pond. Very natural settings--grassy, trees, cat-tails(?), and tullies... very fishy looking (the kind you look @ and go "there's gotta be bass in there"...but very gated as well. Never got the chance to, but I suppose it wouldn't hurt to inquire w/ some of the locals whether or not the place is fishable.
