I was catching rainbow trout on crappie jigs at lake ralphine in santa rosa. Its a small lake only 26 acres. anyway is it common catching rainbow trout on crappie jigs?

No doubt they do work very well! The small types with the lead-head hidden in the bodies. Mini-tubes are the best. Grubs are OK. Anything with metallic flakes are always a 1st choice.
I have a friend who never fishes without 'em. Always does well. He does NOT use a swivel. Just tie straight on.

I catch tons of trout on my crappie jigs. Some of the biggest trout Ive caught (and largemouth for that matter) have been on crappie jigs. It can actually get annoying cause trout will tear up a 1/32 oz maribou jig. The cabelas maribou are my absolute favorite, and without a doubt, in any water color, black trumps all.
