#16181, "2nd Club Tournament"

Wazup all! Yesterday I competed as a non-boater in my second club tournament. It was a pretty small tournament,with only 12 boats or so. But the local club lake I fish is only 250 acres at most, so a lot of boats is tough to fish with. I think it was a 13-boat maximum, bcz almost all the boaters have big Skeeters or Tritons. Anyways, the fishing was actually ok. So here it goes;

I show up in time for the partners and boat number draws. I ended up with an older guy named Tom as my boater. A really nice guy, always see him out on the water. We drew boat #8, so we were back in the lineup. We cruised out of the launch and headed for the tullie "forest" right next to the launch area. 10 minutes in, I got a 1.5 on a drop shotted Robo. Few minutes later Tom pulled in a similar sized fish on a Senko, which he then repeated with another soon afterward. We worked our way in a nice pocket, with a nice mat at the entrance. We had pretty much decided that any form of reaction bite was tough, so he kept with the Senko and I went with a Sweet Beaver. I pitched the Beaver into a little pocket in the tules and got nailed. I missed him! Threw it back and this time I got it, but he wrapped me before we could get to him, and I lost him, had to be at least a 3 from what I saw! x( That pretty much what the rest of the day was like. We caught lots of similar sized fish but nothing over 2.5, even after upsizing to larger baits. Both Tom and I lost a couple better fish, bcz we were way back in the sticks. Saw a couple 20 inch or better fish, one on a bed, but were couldn't get them aggravated enough to hit. All in all I ended up with 6 hookups but I only landed half of those, 2 of which were keepers.

We tied up for 5th at 11.03 w/ another boat. The winning weight was 14.97, and only the top 3 spots took money. The big fish was like 4.5, really not that great a day for this particular lake. if we hadn't lost those few fish back in the sticks, I bet we would have taken 3rd. But I had a lot fun out on the water, and I got to test out my new, custom rod. (Loomis DS820) :-)

Bass + Fisherman= BAASS ADDICTT!!!
