I have never been there so I cant speak from experience, but I dont go anywhere with out a jig rod and a box full of jigs in every size, shape, and color. Same for jig trailers. I would aslo bring a spinning rod with 8#-10# floro. and a good assortment of worms. As for your swimbaits you need to add a hudd. rof 12 and 16 probably more than one of each. Good luck, sounds like fun.

Alot of good fish have been caught on the Stocker Trout at Casitas. Might want to add one to the arsenal.

Thanks guys.
I guess I do need something to fish deeper while out on a boat. I have been browsing many different baits. But as I've read hear I'm going to try and stay with the proven ones. I happen to work with the father of the Thigpen Brothers, ill have a talk with him.

Nicco,

I fish Castaic for Stripers and LMB. I think you have enough swimbait there to fish Castaic. When the Stripers come out to chase the trout you can catch themm with various Trout Plugs and Plastic Swimbaits. I have seen people catch them on the AC Plugs, AC Minnow, Smirk Plugs, Smirk Poppers, MS Slammers and Huddlestons. Without using anything expensive, I have seen people catch those stripers off Rat L Traps, Storm Swimbaits and Bomber Lures. When the linesides are on the prowl you can catch them on almost anything. You just got to get the lures to them and be there when they cruise by.

If you are fishing for LMB at Castaic, dropshotting Roboworms in oxblood color is very effective. You can also use a shakey head rig, texas rig, carolina rig and split shot rig. A jig also works great as well as throwing Senkos and Fat Ikas.

Nicco, having a great equipment is nice, but it will not guarantee you a fish when fishing. You need to spend time at the lake and experiment to see what works for that day. Castaic can reward you when you put in your dues. Some days it's wide open and some days the lake is closed due to high winds. I have fished Upper Castaic and the Lower lake a lot and I can guarantee you that there are very big fish on that lake.

When all else fails visit Scott at the Marina. He is the manager of the bait shop and boat rental there. He can tell you what's going on on that lake.

Good Luck. You have a lot of nice equipment already so don't worry and just use it. I myself am waiting for the Stripers to come up and chase the trout around the Marina and the Dam.

Raymond

Thanks again guys for your suggestions. Maybe I need something like a rof 12 or so like the suggestion. Maybe ill add 1 or 2 more baits and get my butt on the water to learn how to fish them.
I hear you radray on the equipment choice. I'm able at the momment to buy this stuff, so I'm taking advantage of it right now. Next year might be a diff story.
Thank you

The bbz-1, floater, slow sink or fast sink?
Eric has a few fast sinks right now. And what length on the stocker trout? Wasn't the stocker trout designed as a trolling bait?

As to a bass boat, I'm relying on you guys for that ill stand on the dock, all the while looking like Opie..... : ))
Waiting for a ride...

7 Stocker Trout. I have caught bass up to 9lbs on Casitas with that bait and a lot of good fish are caught on it on that lake. The 9" should attract a little bit bigger bass so you need to make a choice. The same goes for the BBZ-1, what time of the year will you be fishing and what area of the water column will they be located at.
The Stocker I feel is often overlooked and everyone has there personal preferences but this is a hot bait, dont let anyone tell you different. I have caught good fish burning this bait in December so what does that tell you.
Peace Rich
