#2833, "What brand of drop shot rods would you recommend ?"
I would like something in the 6"6 - 7 foot range. I was thinking along the lines of a 782 Loomis. How are those new Phenix rods for this ? Anyone use St.Croix rods also ? I also want input on the style of the seat. I am thinking about tenesse but I'm not sure. I am in the $100-$200 range. I hope Chris from BWW will give me his input.

Yes, I'm using (or will use) St Croix rods for drop-shotting. I just bought two St Croix rods, one is 7' Medium Light, Moderate-Fast action, 4-10lb rating spinning rod that I plan on using for drop shotting. Haven't used it yet, but after spending a lot of time researching different rods, including some of the custom rod makers and Loomis, I found that St Croix's Premier ($90) and Avid ($120) rods are a great value for what you pay.

Musky Man, the master of all species! What's up buddy? The Phenix PX-1 in the 65SRM or 65SRL would be a great choice for drop-shotting with a spinning set-up. I agree with these other guys that the Loomis 782 is perfect as well. FYI: Got a call from Danny Kadota yesterday, and he said that the G.Loomis drop-shot model rods will be on the way soon. I haven't seen the prototypes, so I have no idea how they will be. By the conversation we had, it seems to me that maybe these rods will be a little lighter in action than the 782. Most guys are opting for rods with more backbone rather than the buggy whip rods that were popular the last couple of years. Come by and see me when you have a chance, Kevin has started taking showers again, so the only thing that stinks in here is the Smelly Jelly.
