Wow, what an afternoon. I can't write it all down. Lets start at the end. 5 skitter pop fish, 2 buzzbait fish incl a 3.5, 2 7" stocker trout fish both 3lbs and a 3lb'er on the 7" MS Slammer. Sound like a good day? Well not exactly. I had oh about 40 or 50 follow ups, missed 6 or 7 bites including a 5 . Lost my favorite 7" Slammer to a 4 pounder that snarfed it at the boat and snapped me off on 20lb. Shortly thereafter with a new slammer I hooked a fish I would estimate at 7lbs. It did a backflip about 10 feet from the boat so I got a good look at it. Unfortunately (and incredibly) when it dove under the bote it pulled the split ring on the rear hook completely straight and escaped. Yes you read that right, the line did not break, the fish did not spit the hook, the split ring is now an oval shaped piece of wire. What an afternoon. Shoulda coulda woulda. Arghhh.......

A day of catching lots of fish and still going home pissed! That doesn't happen too often. I've seen hooks straighten but never the split ring. And people say largemouth's don't fight that hard!
